About Dr. Kathleen Pearson
I am an osteopathic physician who has practiced Family and Adolescent medicine for over 36 years.
For most of my career I trained and practiced in large medical centers in New York City and Chicago. During that time, I obtained specialty training in Family Medicine, Adolescent Medicine, Osteopathic manipulation, and Family Therapy at The Family Institute at Northwestern University.
I ran my own practice in the Chicago area for over 15 years and then practiced in both regional and small community hospitals for another 15 years.
The pace of modern high-volume medical practices leaves little time for in-depth conversation and getting to know the patient. Seeing a high volume of patients quickly is necessary to generate the finances of these “businesses”.
I have left that world behind and returned to the practice of Osteopathic Medicine as it was proposed by its founder Dr. A.T. Still in 1874. He also left traditional medicine knowing in his heart it was not meeting the needs of the patient. Dr. Still felt that “anyone could find disease”, but a more hands-on structural and holistic approach was needed to treat the whole patient – finding wellness in the mind, body, and spirit.
During my 36 years of practice in traditional medicine I never forgot why I became an osteopathic physician – to help patients achieve the best possible health they could in a natural way.
Osteopathy is helpful in treating a number of ailments including musculoskeletal problems, asthma, lung disorders, headaches, gastrointestinal problems, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, ear infections, sinus problems, and sports and overuse injuries. Personally, I found that I have been able to help improve lung function in individuals with residual Covid lung.
That does not mean I have abandoned cutting edge medicine. It has its place, but often it is not the only answer. Osteopathy can quite often be a wonderful complement to western medicine.
I look forward to getting to know you and your needs. Join me in finding your wellness.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kathleen Pearson
